Following our application in 2023, the Organisation for Leadership & Strategy Development was granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2026.
Consultative status is the formal channel through which accredited non-governmental organisations contribute expertise, field perspectives and recommendations to the United Nations. For OLSD, it is both a recognition of our work and a responsibility: to carry the voices, innovations and priorities of African youth into multilateral dialogue.
Accredited NGOs contribute to ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies through established, formal channels.
Attend meetings of ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, as well as relevant United Nations conferences and events.
Submit written statements that share civil-society and field expertise with member states and the Secretariat.
Engage in dialogue with United Nations bodies and convene side events that bring youth voices to the fore.
Champion youth economic empowerment, innovation and sustainable development within multilateral processes.
